Sprout IT Head of Governance & Compliance wins Security Serious Unsung Heroes Award
      BY SproutIT

Congratulations to Ian Bernhardt, Head of Governance and Compliance at Sprout IT, who was been awarded the ‘Captain Compliance Award’ at the Security Serious Unsung Heroes Awards 2020.

Now in its fifth year, the awards recognise the UK’s “Unsung Heroes in Cybersecurity”. The ‘Captain Compliance’ Award is awarded to the person who “mastered legal jargon around compliance – and possibly the challenges of doing so in the Cloud – and has taken bold steps to ensure data protection, working tirelessly to comply with regulations to infinity and beyond.”

Ian was nominated for the award by his colleagues for his outstanding dedication to compliance in the legal IT industry. Ian always strives for the very best and has acted as Data Protection Officer for Sprout IT and many of our customers. This has involved working as a GDPR and DPA Practitioner, developing the framework for Sprout and its clients, creating a customised Barristers toolkit for their GDPR compliance, annual auditing of our DPO clients with regular refresher training & workshops, and developing breach simulations, contracts and non-disclosure agreements. Over the past year he has implemented a number of new tools, systems and process to ensure the highest quality and security both within and out of the business. He also shares his passion and knowledge to the wider community by writing multiple blogs shared across the web and social media, developing a series of breakfast seminars on cyber security as well as webinars, and implementing & designing bespoke training packages for Barristers.

The virtual awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 11th October with a quick cocktail making session to begin the festivities, before announcing the winners. Each winner has received a personalised trophy to celebrate their achievement.

Ian Bernhardt I am very grateful for the nomination and it is an honour to win the award this year as there are so many talented and worthy entrants that deserve this award too.

We are very proud to have Ian as part of the Sprout team, to help us continue developing the business and ensuring we are providing top quality security both internally and externally. But more importantly we love Ian sharing his passion for compliance with us, our staff and our clients. Ian was joined by other very worthy entrants to the awards, including Lisa Forte and Kate O’Flaherty. Congratulations Ian from everyone at Sprout IT!
